Idiots guide to building a monster of a psp

Hey guys, excellent work on all of your psp mods. I was hoping I could get a bit of help. The more I read the more confused I get. It seems like there are a hundred different ways to do the same things on the PSP.

Since this site seems to be the best out here I was hoping we could put together and "Idiots Thread", to help us newbs get up to speed.

I would love my psp to be able to run map this!, but alas I'm lost.

I was hoping to see a thread that could take a user from opening their brandy new psp box to making it the gaming, entertainment, and navigation machine it can be.

I read outsider's newbe proof guide and that was a perfect example of what I'm talking about. I just need to know what step one is, as in downgrading and upgrading firmware, which one is the right one to use?

I know alot of the information and tutorials are scattered around out here but for a reqular guy like me it can fry your brain pretty fast.
